Kitchen hack 101: Reducing boiling point/cooking time

Understanding home economics goes beyond being a good cook, utilising time and resources, guarding against waste is an added credit to your kitchen skills
1. When boiling water on a burner with conventional pots (not pressure), close the pot tightly as best as you can. Tightly covered pots build pressure as temperature increases, increase pressure reduces the boiling point.
Do this and you'll save your gas or cooking fuel.

2. Before using your pressure pots ensure that the rubber around the cover/lid is in place and properly fitted. That rubber makes your pressure pot air and water proof hence preserving the building pressure within the pot thereby increasing cooking time.
