🌴 Palm oil and the environment: Healthy practices for the ecosystem

Image
Before there were street lights in European cities, ancient Benin kingdom had street lights fueled by palm oil. While we're no longer in the age of powering our lamps with oil, it's imperative to note that this natural occurring wild palm trees have a high nutritional value which is valuable for our health needs.  However, our competitors pride themselves in high yielding genetically modified palm oil (aka agric palm oil, these are usually stunted and fast yielding palm trees which delivers high volume extracts), which is abundant, cheaper and easily gotten. The long term effects of all genetically engineered foods on the human body can not be over emphasized, this and the huge environmental devastation recorded in palm oil producing countries has led to the call for boycott of palm oil use. At 66 million tons annually, palm oil is the most commonly produced vegetable oil. Its low world market price and properties that lend themselves to processed foods have led ...

🌴The Stability of Amberneg Cooking Oils

Image
You have many options when it comes to selecting fats and oils for cooking. But it’s not just a matter of choosing oils that are healthy, but also whether they stay healthy after having been cooked with. When you’re cooking at a high heat, you want to use oils that are stable and don’t oxidize or go rancid easily. When oils undergo oxidation, they react with oxygen to form free radicals and harmful compounds that you definitely don’t want to be consuming. The most important factor in determining an oil’s resistance to oxidation and rancidification, both at high and low heat, is the relative degree of saturation of the fatty acids in it. Saturated fats have only single bonds in the fatty acid molecules, monounsaturated fats have one double bond and polyunsaturated fats have two or more. It is these double bonds that are chemically reactive and sensitive to heat. Saturated fats and monounsaturated fats are pretty resistant to heating, but oils that are high in polyunsatur...

🌴Palm oil consumption during pregnancy may improve vitamin A level

Image
The World Health Organization says adequate amounts of vitamin A are crucial for the survival of pregnant women and their unborn children. With vitamin A deficiencies a serious global issue , particularly in developing nations, attendees of the European Palm Oil Conference (EPOC) were eager to learn if carotene-rich palm fruit oil is the answer. In a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, researchers sought to learn if incorporating red palm fruit oil or sunflower oil into an expectant mother’s diet increased the concentration of carotenes in her plasma and breast milk. Image of pregnancy and the demand for vitamin A The demand for vitamin A is highest for both the unborn child and the mother during the last trimester. Pregnant women in high-risk areas are especially prone to night blindness, a manifestation of vitamin A deficiency. For this six-month study, 90 rural, pregnant Tanzanian women during their third trimester were selected from ...

🌴Palm oil eat and rub

Red palm oil is taken from the fruit of the oil palm tree and comes from the same part of the palm tree as regular palm oil, but it is less processed and retains its red color. According to the Livestrong , red palm oil has been consumed for over 5,000 years and holds numerous health benefits for our body and hair. It is an edible vegetable oil that is extracted from the fruit of the oil palm or Elaeis guineensis. It gets its red color from the carotenes like alpha-carotene, beta-carotene, and lycopene, which are the same nutrients that give tomatoes and carrots their rich colors.  Red palm oil is also rich in vitamin E and that benefits the hair by promoting cell growth of the hair follicles, which results in stronger hair. 🌴Malaysia never took oil palm seed from Nigeria

Image
Few years back, Malaysia got its tenera oil palms from Nigeria. Today Malaysia is the world’s biggest palm oil-producing country, accounting for about half of the world production. This was as a result of Malaysia’s research and development (R&D) program in oil palm breeding, by its Department of Agriculture’s exchange program with Nigeria in the 1960s. Herein, is a nation that can see into the future. Less a decade after, by the 1970s, Malaysia had established a special university, known as the Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (UPM), to train agricultural and agro-industrial engineers and agro-business graduates to conduct further research and training in oil palm production. The major driving force, behind the government’s oil palm dream, is the use of oil palm production as major tool to create employment and invariably reduce poverty.  By 1995, Malaysia had become the world’s largest producer with 51% of world production. For instance, Federal Land Development Authori...

🌴 How to cook palm oil rice and beans...

Image
Palm oil rice and beans is one dish I really enjoyed growing up. I never left it. Once in a while I prepare it especially in University. This dish is very filling. I recommend it to those who say that rice doesn't fill them up. This keeps you drinking water again and again. I think it's very healthy too. Cooking this is not expensive cos we don't need meat or chicken. Smoked fish and crayfish is just fine. I didn't remember crayfish here yet it tastes great. I allowed beans to continue boiling for 15 minutes before adding rice. This is because I cooked small grain Mama Africa Rice. For those who cook Cap Gold, I'll suggest that you add the rice earlier. Cap Rice takes longer to cook.  frying pepper sauce in palm oil: ground pepper, onion and seasoning cubes frying in unbleached oil  pepper sauce is ready for water  add water and washed beans  washed rice is added at 15 minutes of boiling, for parboiled rice, add a bit later  fish is c...

Red palm oil also contains at least ten other carotenes, including the antioxidants, tocopherols, and tocotrienols (vitamin E). The end result is a delicious buttery oil with a mild carroty flavor. Here are some advices on how to cook with extract of natural occurring wild palm trees (palm oil), what products to combine with and how to play around with its distinct taste.
